Hunter Turns 11 months!

Hunter stood alone for the 1st time on 8/28... looking very proud of himself, though we cannot get him to repeat it... and now Hunter is DEFINITELY in that inquisitive/explorer stage... opening cabinets galore! Also, he climbed the stairs up to a landing all by himself when I literally was in the same room but looking for his paci for like 20 seconds... he's got some natural climbing talent going on b/c the daycare lady told me she never taught him how to climb stairs and neither did we! (in fact we deterred him so as to wait on 10,000 gates for our TH). As for the teeth, several more have poked through and he caught a lil cold, so sleep hasn't been so good around our house lately... though his 10 am nap rocks at 2 hours!

Hunter still likes to play "chase the baby" but now he's much faster. Also, he really enjoys playing hide n seek either around a corner or underneath a blanket... He's also developed some favorite foods like white grapes, green beans, peaches, watermelon, baby goldfish, and Yo Baby Yogurt <-- I could swear that he was saying "BA-BY" the other day as he pointed to the little baby on the side of the yogurt container, but se la vi, I cannot get him to say it again! We're not signing enough to really get that down, but may re-initiate that effort b/c he's "talking" a lot more with this tone of voice like HE knows EXACTLY what he's saying (tho we don't)!

Anyhow, short and skinny, Hunter is really becoming a character these days -- he has a great sense of humor, though at times a short fuse -- I wonder where he gets that?!?

Outter Banks Beach FUN!

Hey there!

We had a great time at the beach with Hilary and Rob & their two kids, David (3) and Benny (1), the latter of whom was a nice playmate for Hunter. The drive was looooong and the actual stay felt too short... if we go next year we have vowed to take a whole week. The house was sweet -- it was on the attractive beach of Corrola and had many rooms (a separate one for Hunter, yay!) and a pool out back. Albeit the time felt too short, we had a relaxing and fun time nonetheless. Also, we were able to find time hook up for a visit with Charlie's sister Lisa and her husband Jaime and their two girls, Kelsey (5) and Lauren (8) who happened to be vacationing in Outter Banks at the same time. Though we ate well packing a cooler with deli sandwiches and (much) beer for the day at the beach, and grilled yummy food with Hil and Lisa at night... we couldn't resist stopping in Kill Devil Hills at Awfull Arthur's for some fresh seafood prepared for us... LOBSTER! Hunter behaved AWESOMELY at the restaurant; we learned that he LOVES saltine crackers, for which Awful Arthur's has an endless supply on each table! :)

P.S.
Hunter's face is looking a little "puckered" at times in these pics -- it was VERY SUNNY outside & gone are the days of Docile Hunter who'd wear whatever shades or hat I'd put on him! FYI: So far, one pacifier and one hat have "disappeared"... as they were surreptitiously tossed from the stroller on a walk (unbeknownst to Mom until we got home from the two-mile walk).

July Happenings Part II

Krista's good friend Hilary and Krista got their boys who are close in age together for a playdate... had a great time b/c chatting with Hil is always fun AND Benny and Hunter play together GREAT... Also, Hunter went "totally ape" over Hil's dog Guinness. Charlie, Krista, and Hunter will join Hil and her family in the Outter Banks next week. It will be Hunter's 1st time at the beach -- we'll definitely post some pics after that vacation!

Then Lisa, Charlie's sister, and her girls Lauren and Kelsey visited & got to play with their cousin Hunter... and Aunt Lisa got her sunggle time in w/ Hunter as she put him down for the night a couple times (seems Hunter doesn't much care who's boob it is to snuggle against as long as one's there). And we got in some fun pool time with Lisa, Grandma Lyn and the girls as well.

Finally, Aidan spent the night one night and helped Aunt Krista SO much in taking care of Cousin Hunter. Aidan is 6 yrs old and LOVES playing with Hunter and helping to take care of him... Once Hunter was in bed though, Aidan and Krista ate pizza, ice cream and stayed up late watching TV! FUN!
